Since it was Jose’s birthday yesterday let’s keep the posts all about HIM for a day longer… I’m sure he LOVES this 😉 I’m lucky enough to run this business of mine with Jose by my side in all aspects. He helps me with the business side, like setting up my insurance or emailing my accountant. He helps me with my financial side and making sure I don’t go overspending on silly expenses. He gives me a boost when I need it, even when he doesn’t think I do! Simply saying “I’m proud of you babe” or high-fiving me when I get a inquiry. All those little things make him so amazing. But what REALLY makes him the best husband ever is he is my second shooter to ALL my wedding days! He even tags along to Engagement Shoots and meetings when he can, which is really fun! Some of my brides have met him and some of my brides haven’t… but it’s time you get to know not just me, but your second shooter, my husband, Jose!

Getting to know him is SO important because he is there alongside me at all times on your wedding day and I want my brides to know that they are good in hands with the both of us there. Jose is an extension of me on the wedding day, shooting everything the way I would when I’m not there and knowing my style like the back of his hand, it makes it easier for your wedding day to look consistent in your final product. He’s also so great at posing! If he sees a shot I don’t, he might even step in and pose you himself! He is also the one that gets the getting ready shots of all my Grooms. I always feel like it’s much easier with Jose in the room photographing them because he is a guy too so he easily blends in and it isn’t too awkward for the groomsmen to get ready with another guy standing there taking their pictures (which is how it ALWAYS feels for me when I shoot the guys getting ready!)

Jose always goes above and beyond on the wedding day and never ceases to amaze me. This is not something he considers his career like I do, it’s just his “part time” gig and I’m so thankful to him for giving up one of his weekend days every now and then to be by my side. It’s SO fun to shoot wedding days with my Husband by my side though! If I second shoot with another photographer, I’m always so excited to run home and tell Jose all about what happened at the wedding day but with him as my second shooter we get to experience all the fun together! And since we met 9 years ago at our retail job working together, we KNOW we work well together which is even MORE important for your photos! We work as a team and it really helps make MY job that much easier knowing Jose is nearby with the next lens I’ll need or to hold the bouquet while I get shots without it. And he’s my second set of eyes! He can easily spot something that I might not (that actually happens at EVERY wedding day! Brides – listen out to me constantly saying “oh! thanks babe! I didn’t even notice that!” lol)

So I’m going to tell you a little story that proves just how dedicated and amazing Jose is… The morning of Kristin & Jesse’s wedding while we were getting ready Jose’s back went out. OH MY GOD! Talk about a freak out. While he was in pain, my immediate thoughts went to WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!? I was not prepared for something like this at ALL and immediately called my sister. She is the only other person that within an HOUR of a wedding day starting, I can call and bring along to shoot it. But Jose is the ultimate trooper and insisted he shoot it with me. He took a ton of aspirin, rubbed Bengay all over his back, sat on a heating pad until the very last minute and shot the wedding day with me. He was in PAIN for most of the day but was absolutely AMAZING! I was just so thankful to him and FOR HIM by the end of that day and couldn’t imagine shooting their wedding with anyone else, he was just the best! 🙂

Jose is nothing but a ball of energy on wedding days! He’s always smiling, full of jokes and laughter to ease any nerves anyone might have and great at getting people’s attention when he has to. Together I think we make a great team and am so proud to call him my second shooter. Of course calling him my husband is way more fun for me 😉 We aim for our couples to have the BEST time on their wedding days, even when shooting portraits with just us! I hope this post helped all of my future brides in feeling so excited to work not only with me on your wedding day but the both of us!
