I had booked Rachel & Frank for their wedding date before they even had a venue! We had met them when we photographed their friends, Yuli & Alex’s wedding day, and almost immediately after that they booked me as their wedding photographer 🙂 From the beginning they were excited about getting married but once they picked their venue, it became more exciting. I mean… it’s not every day you attend a wedding at an AQUARIUM! Ever since they booked their venue, I have been hyping up this wedding. In January I remember saying to Jose “this is the year we photograph a wedding at an aquarium!!” and earlier this month I’d say “can you believe at the end of this month we’ll be photographing a wedding surrounded by sharks!?” I have LONG been looking forward to this wedding day. Well – I’m SO happy to say it was everything I anticipated and MORE!
Frank & Rachel were well aware they picked a unique venue for their wedding day and they took full advantage of their location! We walked all over that aquarium shooting in front of everything – the shark tank, the penguins, even the jelly fish! It was all too cool not to have! They also completely embraced the venue into the theme of the rest of their wedding day. I mean… the Bride & Groom shark cake toppers may be the cutest thing I’ve EVER seen (notice, the groom shark is wearing a bow-tie and the bride shark is wearing a veil! lol) Frank even accessorized his suit with shark cuff-links and the cutest shark socks! There were swedish fish and gummy sharks by the bar for guests to snack on, their guests were invited to write them a message in a bottle as their guestbook and their card box was a fish bowl! Tiny little touches like that themed everything together perfectly. And yet even with all of that – this wedding felt very simple and minimalist. Because at the end of the day it’s NOT all about the cute guestbook or the pretty centerpieces, it’s about two people becoming one. And THAT is what their day truly focused around.
These two are a classic couple! Rachel was a STUNNING Bride – she looked so timeline and classic. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn with her up-do and her long laced sleeves on her gown. Just gorgeous. And when Frank saw her walking down the aisle escorted by her brother, the smile NEVER left his face. He could not keep his eyes off her and it was just the cutest thing to witness. At the last minute they decided to do a choreographed first dance and they ROCKED it! They were just the cutest as they spun and swayed to their song, “It had to be you”. Like I said, classic! 🙂 This is hands down one of the most unique wedding days we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing and I can’t WAIT to share it with you today! (oh and be on the lookout for their adorable kitten, Missy, in their photos! She was with Rachel while she was getting ready and she just stole my heart!)
Rachel & Frank, congratulations on such a memorable and beautiful wedding day!! Thank you so much for asking us to capture and share your joy and we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness! Enjoy my favorite images from their wedding day 🙂
