Driving up to New York for Nicole & John’s engagement session was SO exciting! Not only because it was going to be a brand new location I’ve never been to (which is honestly one of my FAVORITE parts of my job!) but because I was finally going to meet them in person! We had talked plenty of times through emails but because they lived well over an hour away from me, we first “met” through Skype so I was SO excited to see their lovely faces in person. The best part was they were 10x sweeter than I could have imagined they’d be and I had the BEST time with them during their engagement session! We all drove together to the amazing Mohonk Mountain House and wow-oh-wow! What a STUNNING backdrop for their engagement photos!
I remember when we did our Skype call they mentioned that they knew exactly where they wanted to do their engagement session. It wasn’t because this was where they got engaged or even spent a lot of time together there – in fact, Nicole hadn’t even been there before! It was because it was in the heart of the Hudson Valley, where they live, and it’d be perfect to capture their engagement session in their new home 🙂 We also prayed it’d be a little cooler and the leaves would turn because this location is IDEAL in the fall. Surrounded by gorgeous foliage and fauna everywhere you turned, it was the most stunning backdrop for their photos. And luckily – it WAS a cool night and the leaves had JUST started to turn to a nice shade of yellow. It was a beautiful night and the best part was it was such a quiet location too! So even when there were people around, they seemed too busy enjoying the scenery to be gawking at us and so it really felt like we had the place to ourselves 🙂 Of course that wasn’t the case when halfway through their session I turned around to find a HUGE black snake crossing the path in front of me (not only my number one phobia but turns out it’s Johns too!) We were on guard the rest of the evening for more snake appearances but luckily that was the only one and even better -it didn’t put a damper on ME! lol Seriously you guys – TERRIFIED of snakes. I had to take a few breathes to compose myself to get back into the groove…
That wasn’t hard to do though because these two are just the cutest together 🙂 It was so sweet watching John’s face as he just stared at Nicole – and he had no problem doing so! And when they kissed, it seemed like everything and everyone around them just disappeared and it was just the two of them. I can not even imagine how GREAT their wedding photos are going to look because these two are pros at having their picture taken. They might tell you otherwise but don’t listen to them 😉 I had such a great time exploring Mohonk Mountain House with them and afterwards, being treated to dinner and getting to know them even better! I also had the BIGGEST smile on my face while I went through their photos, reliving their engagement session and can’t wait to share some of my favorites!! 🙂
Nicole & John, thank you both for such a fun evening! I had the best time with you both and really appreciate you driving me around and taking me out to dinner 🙂 Can’t wait for next September to get here!!
