I’m not going to lie… I knew DURING Anthony & Alexandra’s session that this was going to be one of my top 5 favorite engagement sessions ever. There are a lot of things that make a session a favorite. One factor can be the location and they definitely have that. Besides the fact that this session takes place in my favorite city on earth, we not only got to photograph them in it but we ended up having the BEST view possible of that city. On the rooftop terrace of Alexandra’s Aunt & Uncle’s apartment that overlooks Central Park. It basically had 360 degree views of Manhattan and it was UNBELIEVABLE. When they told me they had this idea, I was picturing either a really tall building that couldn’t even see Central Park or a really short building that only overlooked trees. When we walked out onto that rooftop, I had to pinch myself. There were several times Jose and I made eye contact during this session and just could not BELIEVE how unbelievably BLESSED we are to have this amazing opportunity, like so many times before, to do what we do.
Another factor of making a session a favorite is the connection I have with a Bride & Groom. My connection with these two is STRONG. Alexandra and I both knew INSTANTLY when exchanging our emails that I was just destined to photograph her wedding and since they booked us last fall, it has just felt like a friendship that is growing stronger and stronger. SO strong in fact that our casual “we’ll grab a drink before the session at the bar that means a lot to you and Anthony” ended up being two rounds of drinks, appetizers and LOTS of TV talk, Alexandra and Jose bonding over their love of Jon Hamm (Jose has a serious guy-crush on that guy! lol), careers, wedding planning… EVERYTHING. By the time we got to her Aunt’s apartment, who was SO generous in letting us use her rooftop and spoiling us all with wine to celebrate their session with afterwards, it just felt SO effortless. I felt as though we’d known these two for ages! As the sun set, I just felt so blessed. For the opportunity to do what we do in the city I absolutely love with my husband by my side and the sweetest and funniest two people anyone could ever meet… I could not be more grateful.
When I shared a sneak peek of this session on Instagram, I captioned it with “these two made dreams I didn’t even know I had come true” and honestly, I will FOREVER say that about their session. From shooting on the adorable cobblestone streets and brownstones of the West Village to having the Manhattan skyline and Central Park as our backdrop on the most beautiful rooftop terrace, this session is truly CLASSIC New York City. Add the sweetest couple with the most amazing sense of fashion & you have got yourself an EPIC engagement session. I am SO excited to share these photos with you all today and hope you love them as much as I do! 🙂
Alexandra and Anthony – I don’t have to say it again, you KNOW we love you and can’t wait to see you again in October! Thank you for such a wonderful time in the city, it’s because of people like you that we absolutely LOVE this job 🙂 ENJOY!!
Loved having the streets of Manhattan all to ourselves 🙂
This is what we do while we wait for Taxi’s… take AWESOME jump shots! lol
This sunset was showing off for us… it was literally picture perfect.
Manhattan was showing off too 😉
This picture just looks SO perfect in black and white!! Classic new york.
Alexandra, you are going to be a STUNNING bride!!
This is when I took a few steps back, made eye contact with Jose and wanted to cry from how happy I was. I want this one on a canvas!!
These are my favorite! Capturing them mid-conversation with each other. NOTHING about this is posed and I absolutely LOVE it.
And the kiss goodnight from Manhattan. Thank you so much New York City for being the perfect sixth wheel 😉
