2015-04-08_0001There are those rare and unfortunate instances when sometimes, things don’t always go exactly as you planned. This is true more so for Weddings and sometimes, it happens to occur during Engagement Sessions as well. This was one of those rare instances. Dominique & Jack live in Washington DC and wanted to capture their Engagement Session in their beloved city during, without a doubt, the best time of the year in DC – when the beautiful Cherry Blossoms are bloomed! But unfortunately, this cold winter we had this year prolonged those blossoms from blooming and they didn’t end up blooming in time for their planned engagement session. There are cons… but there were pros too! It was a GORGEOUS day in DC when we took their Engagement photos. 73 Degrees & sunny… it was PERFECT! They could wear short sleeves and not have to worry about carrying around jackets. I was really happy about that. Then there is the magic I discovered while driving around DC before their session… a few blocks away by the Smithsonian, Magnolia trees has blossomed!! They are just as gorgeous as Cherry Blossoms so we changed our plans around to make sure we grabbed photos with THOSE beautiful trees instead!

Sometimes things don’t always turn out as you plan but their engagement session went above and beyond what I imagined!! They were SO comfortable in front of the camera. Nothing but giggles and laughter shared between the three of us… seriously, I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed so hard during an Engagement Session! We started at the gorgeous Jefferson Memorial, their FAVORITE memorial in all of DC and I really could have stayed there all day!! Than we made our way over to the Smithsonian Museums to get photos with those beautiful Magnolias! It’s crazy.. in a populated city like DC, there were times it felt like we had the whole city to ourselves! I LOVE this session so much and am so excited to share some of my favorite images with you today 🙂

Nika and Jack – you both are the BEST! Thank you for letting me capture you in your beloved city of Washington DC and I can’t wait to see you both in August when we celebrate your wedding day here in Jersey! ENJOY! 🙂
