I absolutely loved Angelina and Nick the minute I met with them! We met in a Starbucks and talked about anything and everything – their wedding day, of course, our dogs, their sweet engagement by the beach and how much we love Cape May! I loved how excited they were about their wedding day and yet, how laidback they were about it all! They knew they wanted their wedding to be special and planned the ceremony to be at the top of the mountain at Mountain Creek. Guests had to take a gondola up the mountain to get to the ceremony spot and wow, once you got up to the top… what a view! All they wanted was a memorable wedding day for their guests and an amazing party to dance the night away at! Little did we know that’s EXACTLY what’d they get!!

The week of a wedding, I check the forecast a million times before the day. There was ZERO chance of rain all week long for Angelina & Nick’s wedding day which made me so happy! Everything was going great the morning of. They were both nervous with excitement and couldn’t wait to just see each other. They didn’t plan to do a first look so their nerves were extra high by the time the ceremony rolled around. I couldn’t wait to see their faces when they saw each other and it didn’t disappoint! Angelina had such an amazing dramatic entrance to the ceremony and when she was finally close enough to Nick, her smile just got bigger and bigger!! Their ceremony was SO picturesque. It was everything they wanted!

But suddenly… the clouds behind us got darker and not only was rain in the forecast but a thunderstorm was. And it was happening right as the ceremony ended. Right as we were supposed to take portraits on top of the mountain. Suddenly, the clouds darkened, the wind picked up, the gondola stopped moving and everything was at a standstill. The rain, thunder, and lighting came and we all sat vulnerably at the top of the mountain. I remember standing at the front of the tent, nervously looking around in disbelief over what was happening! I quickly moved to the back of the tent to check on Angelina and Nick and was SO relieved to see Angelina smiling on the couch with one of her bridesmaids, having a drink! That was all I needed to see to know it was all going to be okay! 🙂 Not only that but their guests were absolutley AMAZING!! No one was complaining! Everyone just kept saying “rain is good luck!” and “you’ll laugh at this all 10 years from now!” 4 hours later, we were already laughing at the day and how crazy everything was!!

Once we all FINALLY got down the moment, I went straight into photographer mode – now that the rain had stopped, I could take photos! But as soon as the sun came out, it started to fade… it was a blessing in disguise because it ended up giving us THE prettiest glow in their photos and some AMAZING sunset shots that we might not have been able to get had things gone accordingly! It all worked out in the end! And when they entered their reception, you could see they were in the BEST mood and were ready to dance the night away!! Their reception was a PARTY!! Their dance floor was packed all night, everyone was singing along to every song and these two had a day they will NEVER forget!! Don’t worry – none of us will 😉 Angelina and Nick, I know your wedding day wasn’t what you planned but it sure was beautiful! I am so honored to chose me to photograph it all and wish you nothing but endless happiness in the years to come!!

And a very special thank you to Juliet, my second photographer! My right-hand woman and amazing friend!! lol A few days before Angelina and Nick’s wedding day I pulled my lower back and was not 100% by the time their wedding day came around. Juliet ended up photographing the majority of the reception for me… and as you’ll see, she killed it!! SO lucky to have her on my team and as a friend!! 🙂
