From the moment I received an email from Nicole, I fell in love with her and Phil! They were SO excited to get married and their excitement was contagious. When we met over pizza (the best client meetings!) and I got to know them even more in person, I knew we were a match 🙂 I just knew I was going to hear back from Nicole and sure enough, I’ll be photographing their beautiful wedding day this October! Even when we met, the engagement session was on their mind. They had so many different locations in mind, it became super hard to chose a spot for their photos! After a lot of brainstorming together we finally picked the picturesque locations for their engagement photos… and of course it would be in my favorite city in the world, New York City! And after a few days of it being rainy and cold, we lucked out with it being a GORGEOUS morning in the city!
There are SO many great locations in New York City. It’s one of those cities that you can simply stroll down the street and find a great doorway for a photo (which is exactly what happened during their session!) After discussing a bunch of different locations in Manhattan, they finally settled on shooting at the romantic Bow Bride in Central Park and in Lincoln Center! What’s amazing is they hadn’t even been to either one of those spots before! I suggested Lincoln Center because I absolutely love the arts and feel like I’m at Lincoln Center seeing a new orchestra or ballet performance every year! I KNEW it would be a great location because the buildings in Lincoln Center are all so bright and marbelized, I knew they’d be fantastic reflectors and just make Nicole and Phil glow 🙂 Sure enough, it didn’t let me down! And the Bow Bridge… well, we know how great of a location that is! I was a bit nervous because the last time I had been on the Bow Bridge for an engagement session it was PACKED with tourists. I prayed as we walked through Central Park that the same thing wouldn’t happen and let out the biggest sigh of relief when we reached the Bow Bridge and it was EMPTY! Of course people came and went as we stood on the bridge but that’s NYC and you have to embrace it! I STILL love their photos!
If there were any nerves during their session, I did not see them! Phil and Nicole are naturals in front of the camera 🙂 It’s pretty easy to be natural when you are as in love as they are. They’re just the sweetest together. I loved how Phil constantly kissed Nicole’s forehead and how much Nicole laughed when Phil tickled her (I’m sorry Nicole! I had to do it! lol) They’re such naturals… I would literally pick a spot for them to stand or sit and just capture what happened next! New York City was a great backdrop for Nicole and Phil but they’d be cute no matter where their photos were! There are SO many favorites and we found so many great spots all over the Upper West Side, even after we were told you CAN’T take photos in front of the fountain at Lincoln Center! I’m very appreciative of the guard that let us take a bunch of photos before telling us to stop though 🙂 These two got some great photos of them in front of a classic New York City location that they will always cherish 🙂 Nicole & Phil, thanks for waking up early with me and traveling into the city for your beautiful engagement photos – I have so many favorites and I hope you do too! Can not wait to see you both in October! 🙂
