Last year was a rough year for all of us but Sonya & Eric hopefully rescheduled their May 2020 wedding day to last September with the hope that things would be better by then. Come September, it was clear the world wasn’t getting rid of COVID just yet but Sonya & Eric WERE ready to get married. So they decided not to wait and have a small wedding ceremony, with just their bridal party and closest friends and family, and pray that 2021 would bring them the vow renewal and big celebration they had always dreamt of. Luckily, 2021 did not dissapoint and I was lucky enough to photograph BOTH wedding days!
We woke upon Sonya & Eric’s wedding day to the most INCREDIBLE weather! It was warm, it was sunny and breezy, not a single cloud in the sky – it was unbelievable! There were shades of blue scattered throughout their day in the flowers, in the invitations, the colors the bridal party wore and with the ocean water, it was like the crystal blue skies were contributing to the wedding colors. Sonya & Eric scattered subtle nods to all the things they loved throughout their day… their signature drinks were named after their beloved dog, Rocky (yes, BOTH drinks! lol loved that!). They LOVE sports (no, like… LOVE sports. Not only was Eric born on a Superbowl Sunday but it’s when he proposed to Sonya! Because she equally loves sports as much as he does! lol) so they came out to the NFL theme music and their bridal party surprised them wearing jerseys in the reception.
But most of all, their love was the star of the day. They were already married so how could this day be any different? It wasn’t stressful I’ll tell you that. But after a long hard 2020, being able to celebrate the day with ALL of their family and friends the way they had always dreamed was SO special to them. It just made it all the more special. We took them out for the most incredible sunset photos and at one point I had them face away from us and look out towards the water and just take it in. They did it… AGAIN! But the way they always wanted to! Sonya teared up at the site of their ceremony space and said to me “this is exactly what I dreamed of!” and I was just so happy for the two of them in that moment. And now, they get to finally begin their next chapter! NO more wedding planning. Just enjoying each other’s company as husband and wife 🙂
Sonya and Eric, congratulations… AGAIN!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me be there for you guys every step of the way throughout your engagement. I am SO SO happy for you both and wish you nothing but endless love and laughter together!!!
