Olivia and Brett have lived in five different states together since meeting in college but they lived right next door to New York City when Brett officially got down on one knee and proposed to her! Both of their families are on the west coast and, once COVID struck, it wasn’t easy to celebrate their engagement! What better way to celebrate than with an engagement session and the Manhattan skyline as your backdrop??
Olivia & Brett moved to New Jersey for work 2 years ago and have always loved the city and skyline. I don’t blame them… I’ve lived here in my whole life and STILL get chills seeing it! They knew it’d be a great backdrop for photos and when they reached out to me asking if I was free to photograph their engagement session, I gladly said yes!! When we tried to figure out a location that highlighted the skyline but wasn’t crazy crowded, and based on photos Olivia had seen and loved, we chose Liberty State Park! At first I recommended the time I usually do for engagement sessions… sunset! That’s always a beautiful time of day! Unfortunately for us, EVERYONE in the world had the same idea and Liberty State Park was PACKED! I have photographed couples in this park SO many times and have NEVER seen it like this! It was crazy! And Olivia & Brett had never even been there before so they assumed this was normal! lol
I felt SO bad I asked if we could reschedule for the morning… when I knew absolutely NO ONE but runners would be around. Luckily, they were up for it and we met up super early the next morning. And even more luckily, I was right! lol We had the entire park to ourselves… and so did their sweet dog, Ellie! She LOVED it! She got to run around the park with no leash and go crazy! She was such a good girl for photos – even Ellie got her own photo in front of the skyline 🙂 As we speak, Olivia & Brett are now home in Montana and planning their 2021 wedding day… but we were able to squeeze in their engagement photos right before they left and it was the perfect send off to the east coast! Good luck to you both in your wedding planning and enjoy my favorite photos from their session!! 🙂
