Back in 2015, I met Marta & James at a Starbucks right in their lovely town of Hoboken. They told me all about their plans to get married at the beautiful Bonnet Island Estate in June of 2017 and at the time, a 2017 wedding seemed so far away! As it got closer and after we took their engagement photos this past spring, I couldn’t wait for their big day to arrive. And here we are… a few days after all the celebrations and they are finally MARRIED!! Looking back at Marta & James wedding day now, it was aboslutely perfect. Nothing went wrong, everything fell perfectly into place and went off without a hitch. Everyone looked amazing and the party literally never stopped *LITERALLY. Rumor has it they didn’t go to sleep until 7am the next morning!* 🙂 How could you when you’re on cloud 9 from a perfect wedding day? I don’t blame them one bit 🙂
Compared to a lot of weddings we photograph, their details were minimilastic and simple. Simple centerpieces, simple florals… nothing was over the top. And this is what I truly LOVED about their day. They didn’t go over the top with ordering a ton of flowers or decorations. Their venue was the PERFECT backdrop for their wedding day because you didn’t need much to make Bonnet Island Estate beautiful, it already is! Marta didn’t wear any jewelery except the beautiful earrings James gifted her that morning and she looked FLAWLESS! James didn’t wear a tie because it was a wedding, not a business meeting and I LOVED that look on him and his groomsmen (in fact, he despises ties so much he asked all the male guests to not wear one. #NOtiesFORguys!) They gave out the cutest and simplest favors – champagne and rose gummy bears from Sugarfina, my FAVORITE candy store and if you were lucky enough to stay at Bonnet Island Estate with the newlyweds, you were welcomed with the cutest bag of treats and snacks! I loved it all! 🙂 The details they did take the time to think out were thought out wonderfully and it all was awesome! What was most impressive to me was their after party, which we happened to stay until the end to see. My gosh – if you were at their after party, you got the hook up! Not only did an ice cream sandwich truck pull up and an espresso bar was available but they also ordered boxes and boxes of Domino’s Pizza and breadsticks! These two know how to take care of their guests 🙂
Marta & James story is so interesting because though they met through mutual friends and with the help of social media, they could have met SO many times before they actually did! They grew up less than 2 miles away from each other and yet, never met. They went to the same college and lived in the same dorm building their first year and yet, never met. They even worked less than a block away from each other in New York City and when they finally DID meet, they learned how close they had been to each other all their lives. Is that amazing or what?? And now years later, their finally Mr. & Mrs. We had SO much fun kicking off our weekend with these two and are just SO happy for them!! Get ready to relive their lovely wedding day with our favorite images!! 🙂
