When we met with Ashley & Eric two weeks before their wedding day to visit their venue with them, the nerves still hadn’t hit Ashley. It still hadn’t felt real! So naturally the morning of her wedding I asked if the nerves had crept up yet – NOPE! lol She saw the ballroom all dressed up with their picked out linens and centerpieces, she saw her dress hanging in the lighthouse of Clarks Landing and flanked by the lovely bridesmaid dresses, she saw her dad dressed in his suit and looked handsome… and still, no nerves! It wasn’t until she sat down to read the four cards Eric wrote out for her (and yes, of course she read all 4! He put them all in a specific order from funny and cute to sweet and sentimental!) that suddenly it hit Ashley and she couldn’t hold back her nervousness. Her hands shook as she read each card and she cried and laughed as she read his sweet words to her. This was FINALLY happening and it was happening TODAY!
All those nerves went away the minute Ashley & Eric shared their First Look. Eric was a bit nervous too but mostly, excited! He did need a shot from his shotski at home (a shotski! lol we loved that!) but he showed up to Clarks Landing with the biggest smile on his face, anxious to see his Bride! The minute he turned around on the dock and saw Ashley there, looking absolutely stunning, he SPRINTED towards her! It doesn’t look like it in photos but I’ve never seen any Groom move so fast towards his Bride. He was SO anxious and excited to just hold her and kiss her. And he couldn’t stop staring at her. It was the sweetest! Right after their first look, Ashley laughed and said “I feel so much better already!” and we got right into their portraits. The weather had called for rain ALL week long and it was literally ONLY on Saturday, the day they were getting married. But would you believe the rain held off and it didn’t rain until 7:30pm that night and only for like 3 minutes! lol (Of course, RIGHT when we went out for sunset portraits. But it was worth it!) It was HOT out but thankfully the breeze from the ocean and the shade all helped make it an amazing day!
Ashley and Eric absolutely wanted an unplugged ceremony – there was no question about it! The payoff was unbelievable – the entire crowd of guests cheered on Eric as he walked out to the ceremony site and each and every member of the Bridal Party as they walked down the aisle, before being stunned into silence from Ashley looking so gorgeous! It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it was a beautiful thing. Suddenly before we knew it – they were MARRIED!! The party started right after that and never stopped! The dance floor was PACKED all night and even during dinner, people would not stop singing along to every song the DJ played! Not only that but Jose and I were SO impressed by the venue and staff of Clarks Landing, they made the day beautiful and so effortless for Ashley & Eric in so many ways. Definitely one of our new favorite venues that we are anxious to shoot at again! 🙂
There are SO many stunning details in this wedding day – from the lovely shades of beige and blush in the bridesmaid dresses (I am LOVING the new trend of each bridesmaid wearing a different dress! It’s just SO pretty!) to the fun and amazing groom’s cake of a Johnnie Walker bottle in a crate Ashley had made for Eric. It looks SO real, Jose had NO IDEA it was fake when he first saw it! lol It was a beachy chic wedding day, as Ashley described it, and from the starfish and sand dollar’s that were the table cards to the anchor socks Eric and his groomsmen wore, even to the salt water taffy guests got to take home with them at the end of the night – it was just that! I could go on and on about what an incredible wedding day it was but it’s finally time for the photos to take over this post! 🙂
Ashley & Eric – Thank you for entrusting us with your photos and letting us be a part of such a wonderful celebration! We’re so happy for you both and hope you’re having the BEST time on your honeymoon on the other side of the world! 🙂 Enjoy my favorites!
