Jordan and Chris got engaged this past June and guess when their wedding day is? This October! Talk about a quick engagement! When I asked them why they decided to have a short engagement, Chris answered it perfectly. They are both teachers, both had the summer off so figured why not!? Almost 2 weeks after they booked me, we scheduled their engagement session and by their session they had all of their wedding planning done! How awesome is that!? What’s so fun about this short engagement is how calm and excited they are. Most couples plan their weddings a year because they just can’t imagine the stress of dealing with so much planning before the wedding but with Jordan and Chris, stress is simply non-existent and I LOVE that. They are just excited to be husband and wife!
I have to give major props to these two because their engagement session happened to take place on one of the hottest days of the year. No joke, it was BRUTAL. As I sat in Darlington County Park waiting for them to arrive, I remember looking at the weather app and it read 99 Degrees outside. Ugh. I was a little worried about the heat because heat brings on sweat and shiny skin but they did NOT have that problem. I kept them in the shade as much as possible and even with the sun BEAMING on us at times, they still managed to look beautiful. It also helped that they brought along Passion Iced Tea Lemonades and Green Teas from Starbucks to keep cool (and one for me! LOVE these two!) Jordan and Chris picked Darlington County Park in Mahwah as their location for their engagement session because of all the memories it held for them in high school, running in track around the park. I could not even imagine that because this park was MASSIVE! It was great to be at a location they were both so familiar with 🙂
All of my couples will tell you I have no problem breaking rules when it comes to photographs… sometimes you got to do it to get the shots you want! Luckily Jordan and Chris were all about breaking rules too 😉 There were about 6 signs coming into the park that said “NO DOGS ALLOWED! ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS!” Well… guess who they snuck into the park with them? Their ADORABLE dog, Oklahoma! Oklahoma (Okie for short) is a super shy dog which is crazy because he is a BIG, intimidating looking dog. Nope, he’s a big softie at heart like most big dogs are. They were worried he’d never look at my camera or even warm up to me but by the end of the session we were best friends and he was eating treats out of my hands 🙂 He is SO handsome and it was so fun getting photos of their little family of three. (Yes, you are a family when you have a dog!!) The photos with him, and of him alone, are absolutely adorable and some of my favorite from their session. I had such a blast with these two and cannot wait for October now!!
Jordan and Chris – thanks for being SO awesome on this hot day!! Hope you LOVE your photos and can’t wait to see you in October on your wedding day!! 🙂
