We are clearly smack dab in the middle of engagement season and it has be so fun hanging out with all of my wonderful couples! Julie and Dan are the couples I dream of working with because when their initial date for their engagement session has to be postponed due to severe thunderstorms, it’s okay! We had our back up plan and that’s totally fine. It was worth the wait. The day of their engagement session was sunny, breezy and to put it simply… perfect!
After a beautiful snowy proposal, Julie & Dan decided on having their engagement session in the gorgeous Verona Park right next to where they live! Verona Park is such a nice big park with so many beautiful areas and the benefit of shooting in such a large park is, for the most part, there were times it felt like there was no one around…. which honestly, is my FAVORITE during engagement sessions! I was so excited to photograph Julie & Dan for several reasons. The first is when they booked me, I had only met Julie! I hadn’t even met Dan so I was excited to see my 2016 bride again and also, meet my groom 🙂 The second reason was Julie’s ring. Oh. my. gosh. When I met Julie at our initial meeting, she confused she knew right away she wanted to do things differently for her wedding day (she is going to DYE her wedding dress! Guys! I can not wait for this wedding!) and it was clear from her engagement ring that was the case! This was my first time shooting a colored engagement ring and not only colored but EMERALD! Ugh I love that stone so much and was SO excited about this! When they went to change, I had that beautiful ring all to myself but unfortunately… no great backdrop to put it on! I had to get super creative. That’s when I happened to look down beside me and notice Julie’s glittered iPhone case. The end result? Um… maybe my favorite ring shot EVER! 🙂
Julie & Dan were such naturals during their session but once they pulled out their fishing gear, got even more comfortable in front of the camera. I have never ever been fishing in my entire life (does crabbing count?? I don’t think that does! lol) so I was fascinated with everything and loved seeing them try to fish in the middle of their session. How fun! Not only were they naturals but daredevils too! I am going to say right now it was 100% THEIR idea to jump into the tree and Julie did it -IN A DRESS! That takes some serious skills (and believe it or not, some help from me! It felt like we were cheerleaders as I pushed her up the tree! lol) It was well worth it and those are some of my favorite shots from their session 🙂 Can’t wait to share their beautiful engagement session with you today! And Julie & Dan – I hope you LOVE your photos and I am so excited for your wedding day next year! It’s going to be so fun 😉
