Have you met our adorable new home yet?? If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (my name is tinaephoto!), you’ve seen a bunch of our home already and we’ve only been living here for a month! Long before I was a photographer, and before the thought of becoming one even entered my mind, I was actively pursuing becoming an interior decorator! While in college I took a course on it, I went to any free lectures there were at nights about them, I even applied to internships at Interior Decorators offices. I’ve always loved decorating and loved it so much, I thought it was the perfect career for me! But God had other plans for me – I was not meant to work in interior design. I’m not bitter at all about it – I’m loving what I do now 🙂 But I still love to decorate and having a new home – I’ve realized all over again just how much I LOVE it.

We’ve been in our house for a month already and things have changed SO much in this house already! Plus, we’ve got BIG plans for the rest of it. It will take a few months and let’s face it, even years to do all of the things we’ve got dreamed up! But that’s okay because it’s OUR house and we can take as much time as we want making things happen! In the meantime, I’m having so much fun imagining what each of our rooms is going to look like. Plus we’ve got TWO bathrooms to decorate, a THIRD bedroom, a FOYER (what!?) and now finally… A YARD! We’re slowly hanging up the frames and shelves in each room and making it feel ten times more homey (I admit. Within the first week, this house already felt like “home”. Such an amazing feeling!!) It’s so hard not to share each and every new thing I do on social media or even here on the blog. I mean, I’m honestly trying not to be annoying with my new home and posting every little thing I do. And instead be patient and see what it all really turns into. But I also can’t help myself!! Some things are too fun to share!

Like our guest bathroom downstairs! That’s the first room we tackled because 1. The ugly ivy green wall paper HAD to go 2. The shutters and curtains on the window were an eye-sore to say the least and 3. this is where our GUESTS will go to the bathroom. It HAS to look better than this! So we removed the wallpaper and all the old window treatments for regular blinds, we got rid of the old ugly storage and mirror and replaced it with a new one then we painted the old wood door with a fresh coat (or 4) of white paint, new hardware and WOW! SO different already! I absolutely LOVE it and am so proud anytime someone goes into that bathroom of how much we’ve done already! A little bit goes a long way guys 🙂

I knew I’d continue to share more and more of our home on Instagram so I finally have a new hashtag for all future home posts and photos. #athomewiththeriveras Just look it up on Instagram and you can see all our progress in one section all together 🙂 YAY! Plus, I’ll be sharing little pieces of our home here and there on the blog as we continue to do things. I don’t think it will ever be “done” so it’s hard to hold it all in until it feels like it would be “done” so I’m excited to share all our progess! Hope you are too! 🙂
